Overview

The Nirdhar Samaanatecha meaning ‘Commitment to Equality’ Programme, is an extension of the earlier initiatives: the ‘Women’s Empowerment’ and ‘Partnering with Men’ programmes. It aims to reshape gender attitudes and behaviors to reduce gender discrimination, child marriages, dowry practices, and domestic violence, ultimately seeking to empower domestic violence survivors and improve their quality of life. Drawing on previous achievements, where communities slowly began supporting women survivors of violence, accessible counselling and support service was established, and men’s participation in anti-domestic violence campaigns increased, the Nirdhar Samaanatecha initiative, in this phase aims to fine-tune its intervention and make it more comprehensive by involving state actors as well as appropriate professionals/experts as well as upscale the intervention.
