To encourage and provide underprivileged students with opportunities for education through offering financial aid.
In partnership with the Durga Devi Trust, HMF, through its Rural Science Centre offered various types of scholarships to students for high school education and higher education as follows:
1. Scholarships for 8th to 10th Grade Students:
- Criteria : Students with good academic performance but from financially weak backgrounds
- Selection Process : Schools associated with Rural Science Centre (RSC) shortlisted eligible students and referred them for scholarship examinations conducted by Durga Devi Trust. Those who cleared the exams and performed well selected for the scholarship.
- Duration : 3 years, until completion of 10th Grade
- Scholarship amounts :
- 2008-2013: Rs. 1500/- per month
- 2014-2016: Rs. 2000/- per month
- 2017: Rs. 2500/- per month
- Total Beneficiaries : 512 students from 2008 to 2017
2. Scholarships for 10th Grade Students:
- Criteria : Students securing above 90% in 10th Grade examinations.
- Selection Process : Schools referred eligible students to RSC, following which Durga Devi Trust interviewed parents of these students for the final selection.
- Duration : 2 years at a stretch, once selected
- Funding : Rs. 10,000/- per year
- Total Beneficiaries : 26 students between the years 2011-2017
3. Scholarships for Higher Education:
- Criteria : Bright students facing financial constraints for higher education. Such educational opportunities were not accessible in villages or nearby towns, and arranging accommodations elsewhere incurred significant costs
- Fields of Interest identified : Engineering, Medicine, Agriculture, Nursing, Polytechnic.
- Selection Process : RSC referred students to Durga Devi Trust for interest-free loans or for free scholarship.
- Loan Repayment : To be returned after securing employment
- Total Beneficiaries : 135 students, with a total disbursement of nearly 40 lakhs from 2013 -2017

Scholarships to students is crucial for providing educational opportunities, but ensuring continuous support poses a significant challenge. Sustaining such initiatives demands ongoing fundraising efforts or long-term commitments from funders.
