Healing Rural Maharashtra:HMF Hospital’s Journey from Compassion to Care
HMF Hospital is a rural hospital based in Andur, a medium sized village located 50 km from Sholapur. Before the establishment of HMF Hospital, those in need of secondary healthcare were referred to Sholapur city for further treatment. This generally used to burden families from rural areas with extra costs such as transport and wage loss, in addition to the cost of their medical care.
HMF Hospital was developed based on individual and organizational donations and therefore, healthcare services are being provided at affordable rates considering socioeconomic status of the surrounding areas. Dr. Shubhangi Ahankar is the chief medical officer of the unit.
